In regard to #2 - I used to work in a high-rise in Chicago, and from the window near my cubicle on the 10th floor I could see the backs of two buildings and, in between, a sliver of lake and sky. I went to the window several times a day, and I know it sounds cliche but the lake was different every. single. time. I tried taking daily pictures for a while, but I couldn't capture it - it was an analog-only experience. Thanks for reminding me of it!

A sound diary sounds great, (as the whole post). Right now someone is blowing leaves with a motor on his back, I do long for the sound of a rake rattling on the grass or should I embrace the sound from the motor rising and falling outside my window.

Love the idea of a keeping a sound diary for a finite period of time. Will definitely try this. We have many fewer birds and I used to get annoyed by their incessant chatter. Dead trees standing are increasing in my town. A linkage exists I’m certain so time to figure out what kind of sounds are in short supply. Thanks.

Love that you called scheduled unscheduled time "off-leash time." That makes it sound even more fun!

Brilliant. I love this liberation of the “rewilding” meme into a sphere that everyone inhabits and where everyone has some degree of agency. I’d like to suggest noticing what you notice including what feelings arise.

You're the second person this week to mention the 'engaging the senses' checklist to me. So I'm going to give it a go with looking at a painting....

Love that word, rewilding. "Wild thing, you make my heart sing".

Taking a walk in the Fall is fun. I love hearing the rustle of the leaves and acorns as I shuffle my feet and kick 'em around. I enjoy their rustic, nutty smell. Their colors are beautiful!! Oh, look a chipmunk! ! Gotta go!!
