Things have been busy in TAoN-land, and I need to pause and try to begin to catch up. Today I thought I’d share recent feedback and discussion; it’s a bit of an experiment so let me know what you think.

First, in the chat:

  • Lots of great responses already to November’s prompt, Mysteries. Take a look — and join in! — here.

  • Also lots of enthusiasm for the idea of noticing clubs (or societies!). In this thread, folks reaching out from Berlin, Tucson, San Diego, Charleston (SC), Los Angeles, and Pittsburgh interested in getting together. Chime in on the thread if you’re in once of those places & interested, too.

YES COMMENT

Second, some comments I want to highlight. Unlike most of the Internet, on TAoN you should read the comments :)

Responding to the Artists of Noticing post, Rubi McGrory (her newsletter here) wrote:

I’d make a case that by virtue of your sharing inspiration for Acts of Noticing™ with fellow Artists of Noticing™ you are in fact, the Muse of Noticing™. Business cards?

Can’t overstate how much I love that! And yeah: great biz card idea! Thanks Rubi.

And Lynn Borton (her radio show / podcast here) wrote:

I read your post and Todd Kashdan’s most recent back-to-back this morning — and find the combination both cathartic and galvanizing. He wrote about the exciting research coming out on purpose, his own included. I believe the value and power of what you have going on here is exactly that: your purpose is clear and …I think the right word is “expansive”. Your gift to the rest of us (read Todd’s WaPo column link 😉) is an invitation to invest ourselves in the world around us. That pays dividends for you, me, us and all the other would-be/could-be Artists of Noticing out there.

The comments in general on that post are pretty great.

IN THE MAIL

I guess I’m on the record that I love physical mail, and it keeps coming!

This arrived before Halloween :)

Cathy sent this postcard. Her note on the back said in part: “At my desk today I heard geese calling in the distance … I got up and went outside and listened till I could see them pass overhead — fall magic.” You made my day with that, Cathy. Thank you!

Some more thank yous & mail:
