Thanks for the article, totally agree, I think manager do not reward curiosity because it's often close to procrastination and/or it lack of structure.

Curiosity an Exploration is the "fun part" but it must be organised and summarized in order to have strong value.

The notion of exploration and exploitation (in organizational learning) but obviously with a much wider impact than 'simply' organizations - dates back to a paper by James March in 1991 - https://www.jstor.org/stable/2634940
