This is a philosophy I try to live by and am hoping to cultivate in my students when I teach plant diversity and ecology in upcoming semesters!
Also, I may have inadvertently photographed the same tree near weekly when I walked in the arboretum by my then-office every day…but I’d love to try doing it deliberately.
Thank you for this article! I've challenged 3 of my friends to spend 30 minutes a day outside, and to document their time with photos. I can't wait to see what evolves!
The weather is nice and this shouldn’t be that hard. The benefits of barefoot walking in the morning on grass and stretching 🙆♀️ outside are innumerable. At dusk, I go out for 20 minutes and sit and watch the fireflies. What a joy this is. I was only chased inside last night by what I initially hoped was a fawn but alas it was a fox. 🦊 Totally unrelated, but the pleasure of eating 🍽️ outside is unmatched by indoor eating. There must be science behind this. Everything tastes far more delicious.
I think choosing the time of day or night will obviously have a different overall experience, and I must mention the safety aspect witch should always be your first port of call " one should always be aware of ones surroundings I always think a little bit of mantle preparation before hand doesn't hurt it's a shame that we find are selves living in such precarious times safety awareness and nature loving walks and adventures shouldn't have to be an issue I'm sorry if I've tainted your mental picture of awild flowerd orchid with a site of sporadic delights of butterfly s and the sound of buzzing bumble 🐝 bee's and a hint of sweet smelling Jazmin topped off with a willowing cloud's of pollen visible from the deep blood red sun settling far away in the yonder lol I hope I've redeemed myself a little for spoiling the momentum " safety and security is what I do to make ends meet so stay safe and god bless you all
I read this as I’m sitting outside eating lunch, accompanied by my dogs Theo and Claire. I try to come outside every day to just be outside. To ignore the weeds that need pulling, set my devices down, and observe. I’m not always successful in this, but most days I am. Currently I can hear Theo and Claire sniffing the verandah, checking in case I dropped some of my lunch 😅 There’s the sounds of a tractor working close by. And birdsong, always there’s birdsong 😀
There's a 13-year-old in my house that's scrolling through the street art -- thanks Rob.
This makes me very happy. To have a 13 yo interested in art is a huge success.
When a door opens … then closes … never forget “if it’s meant to be … IT WILL BE🌝
Always a delight — thank you.
Great subjects to bring more awareness to.
I’m working on the idea of re-wilding myself.
“In a world full of pigeons (domesticated), be a dove (wild by nature).”
